Willowbank Wildlife Reserve


Willowbank Wildlife Reserve will give you the chance to see and experience some of Christchurch's wildlife. Not only will you be able to see wildlife and farm animals but you will be educated about the effect that introduced pests have had on the bio diversity of New Zealand. If you are a wildlife enthusiast you will even be able to visit Willowbank Wildlife Reserve at night and be able to see some of the nocturnal species.

Willowbank Wildlife Reserve was stared by Kathy and Michael Willis in 1974. Michael had a boyhood dream to run a wildlife reserve. In the beginning the animals were collected when chance arose and it took some time for Willowbank Wildlife Reserve to transform from a barren reserve to something today that is enjoyed by many visitors every year.

Amongst the attractions you will be able to enjoy when you visit the Attractions Are the Stables (complete with a Clydesdale), The Pig House, Sheep, Dorset Horn, Shropshire, Clarence Reserve Sheep, Goats, Anglo Nubian Goats, Miniature Horst Stables, Dexter Cattle and a poultry section.

Willowbank Wildlife Reserve is situated just 15 minutes from Christchurch and is open daily from 10am to 10pm. Guided tours are provided daily. Admission ranges from $17 for an adult to $8.50 for children over 5. All in all this is a top class reserve and would be a very enjoyable day for all the family.
